Extra fixing holes had been drilled in the plate holding the glass globe
These Art Deco lamps by Balleste had previously been poorly restored using epoxy resin largely filling the internal cavities within the figures.
Hands had been snapped off and crudely refixed using car body filler. Both marble bases were chipped and needed repair and matching.
This kind of restoration requires great strength in the joints between the remodeled hands and the figures as they have to hold the weight of the glass globes.
